Journey is the entry level expression from the Isle of Jura range (which was relaunched in mid-2018). It was aged exclusively in American white oak ex-bourbon barrels and bottled at 40% ABV. A tasty introduction to Jura's single malts.
Melted butter, sugared almond, a very light hint of smoke.
Honeyed-drenched pear, toffee and pencil shavings.
Oily walnut and light apricot sweetness.

One of those nice finds when it is discounted. Perfectly drinkable, quite sweet but with a hint of dark chocolate at the finish.
Only good for hot toddies
This is a beautiful single malt. From the moment you pour yourself a glass and take a sip it is perfection. I was lucky to get this on offer today and I paid £22, but I would pay more than that. Really smooth to drink, and no burn. Nice gentle smoky taste followed by an amber aftertaste that just lingers and makes you want another sip. I recommend this is drank as single malt is supposed to be drank - no ice, and absolutely no water!
I picked up a bottle of this at Morrisons for £22 expecting not too much. But this is a solid drop, nicely balanced with a lingering complex finish. It won't blow you away, but at this price point what will?
Honestly, i'm not sure how else you would describe this whisky - bland. The American Oak has imparted nothing (maybe the very, very slightest sweetness on the back palate), and the only note I can get on the nose is 'bread'. More reminiscent of a £10 off licence flask than a malt from a reputed distiller - really disappointed in Jura with this one. Not to discourage others from trying their other expressions, as they've generally been good. But this is garbage.
