Jura 14yo Rye Cask

Fabulous 14-year-old single malt from Jura, this expression was matured in a selection of American white oak, bourbon, and American rye whiskey barrels. This crafty combo of casks imparts a delightful layering of vanilla, caramel, tropical fruit, and warming, prickly spice – a splendid dram for sipping at the end of a long day.

Stir up a modern twist on an Old Fashioned cocktail with this tasty recipe!

1 Cube of brown sugar

A few drops of bitters

50ml of Jura 14 Year Old American Rye Cask

Orange peel

In a tumbler, muddle the sugar and bitters. Add the Jura, plenty of ice, and stir until well diluted (we'd say that's around 40 counts). Strain into a chilled Old Fashioned tumbler, and express the orange peel over the drink. Enjoy!

Tasting Note by The Chaps at Master of Malt

Nose Zesty wafts of fresh lemon peel and candied orange open things up followed by mint leaves and blossom.

Palate Floral notes continue, with more fresh herbs. Sweet caramelised nuts, juicy tropical fruits, buttery vanilla, crisp spiced apple with fragrant cinnamon and oak char.

Finish Still fruity, the woody spice picks up with prickles of warming pepper, balanced by sweet, nutty caramel.

Reviews for Jura 14 Year Old American Rye Cask
14 yr Old…Really?
I was looking for a Single Malt and not having tried Jura for a while the 14yr old at £30 caught my eye. It’s OK, inoffensive, but nothing special. Yes it’s smooth but It lacks any real depth, especially at that age and is more a mixer whisky, so the Wife will enjoy it. It isn’t the worst but at £29 a 12 yr Old Pulteney is a much, much better buy.

3* at the price.

Impressed. But zero for the packing
Bought as a gift. The whisky is a classy new find, a step up from our usual. Recommended.
(But somewhat annoying it arrived in a packing box splashed in writing and logos about whisky, completely giving away the birthday surprise! Incognito box would be better).

I like ‘em firm and fruity.
This is a lovely dram! Jura have always been on the cheaper side and while they’re all enjoyable, they’ve never been at the top of the list as there’s always something I think better to buy, but this….this is something else entirely. Toffee apple and caramel which then gives way to fruit and for me it was mango. Not sure if anyone else got it but this unmistakable tropical fruit/mango finish with a hint of pepper. Would definitely buy again.

Quality
Absolute quality, it's very much a half way house kind of taste, between scotch & Irish whiskey, it's very smooth, with a Iinseed oil style after Finnish, not a fan of jura, but this is definitely worth checking out, I originally had one of these bought as a gift, & I have purchased some more since, I would definitely recommend *****

very nice indeed
Iv'e always liked Jura and think that it's an underrated distillery in my opinion . I was sad to see my old favourites go when they changed the format in 2018 ( I think ?) but enjoy the 12yr old very much but this has risen to the same level. I too was not sure at first but soon realised that this has a lot to offer in terms of smell and taste and has a fairly long finish. Lots of friut, spice, some nice mild smoke and lots of floral notes too. The rye cask has intergrated well and seems to suit the Jura spirit nicely. Recommended.

Very interesting
I couldn’t make my mind up at first but half way through the bottle I loved it. It really does take a while due to the ever changing flavours which start off full of fruit but then settle into a deeper, pepper taste which compliments the fruit perfectly. Very nice for £30

Suprised at how good this is.
I have to admit i was not expecting much, but am very pleasantly corrected.
A fruity and woody dram that im feeling an edge of smoked meat to the nose, is that just me? But let it sit a while and this starts to dance.
Its lovely, im a big peat head but this jusy has to be a permanent friend in my whisky locker.

Not having tried any other jura, im wondering what i should get next from this team!

Not entirely convinced.
Generally I love Jura for its smooth brandy-like velvetty flavour, I an not entirely convinced by this particular permutation. I think the slightly peppery sensation , which is no doubt caused by the
American rye barrels. It is not my favourite Jura; and I find it needed a considerable quantity of both ice and water for me to find it drinkable with any pleasure.

Beauty of a dram
Beautifully smooth, floral dram with hints of green apple, cinnamon and honey. Lovely colour as well.
