6 year old peated Indian single malt whisky from Paul John, independently bottled by us for our very own Single Cask Series. This was distilled in October 2009 and matured in first fill bourbon barrel #809 until May 2016. Following that, we bottled it at cask strength without even a thought to chill-filtering it or using additional colouring, as with the rest of our Single cask Series.
Toasty Weetabix, ash and a touch of camphor with some clove and winter spice. A little water reveals more pine nutty and fruity notes.
Creamier than expected with some sweetness that balances the smokier, more Autumnal elements.
Tarry peat, cereal and mixed nuts.
Another belting single cask peated Indian single malt!
What are we all going to do now? The Indians are out-Islay-ing Islay. And they really, really are. This, I would have said, has more in common with a 30yo Lagavulin than it does with Amrut. The world's going mad.
