Jameson Gold Reserve Reviews

Smooth....

Buttery , vanilla , creamy tad weak on finish.

Nailed it!

I'm a fan of Jameson and Irish whiskey, and this one is almost perfect for a blend. The mouthfeel, complexity, smoothness, but lack of finish... I mean, i hope it has long and lingering finish, but its just a blend right?
Damn good dram!

The most desapointing whiskey I purchased

In the Jameson line, the select reserve is much smoother and way cheaper. For my liking, the gold reserve is simply hard and dry...

Creamy delicious

Better than I expected. I have a hard time picking out any specific flavors. Honey and butter I guess. Very viscous Similar to Redbreast 15, Auchentoshan 21, and Bushmills 21 (minus the tobacco). I think it's a tad less sweet than the aforementioned, but only a tad. To me, that's a good thing, and I'd actually prefer a little drier myself; I find thick sweet whiskies a little too cough-mediciney, but that's just a personal thing. There's no questioning the quality of this one though, it's terrific.

Deliciously complex

Wonderful blend of malted and unmalted barley with delicate aroma and very rich and complex flavor. Notes: mint, honey, floral, green fruits, even cucumber and melon. My rate: 96/100 - Outstanding.

The best of the Jameson's bunch

Forget the small batch or the more expensive Jameson 18yo (the former is a bit unbalanced and the latter is underwhelming for the price).

It's subtle (I get hints of apricot/peach along with "honeymalt" on the palate) and not as big a sherry bomb as some due to the virgin oak.

But it's a beautiful easy drinking smooth sipper (which, in my opinion, is what Irish Whiskey should be all about). Hell, I reckon you could gargle this like mouthwash and still not feel any afterburn.

Will buy it again.

What do you want?

Maybe I expected too much...
It is OK, pot still and sherry are there, but this whiskey is lacking something...finish! That's it!
If you want easy sipping "fast" whiskey - this one is for you.
Don't expect fireworks...

Jameson Gold Reserve

Had this on a shelf for quite a while. Decided to pour a splash tonight while I wait for my Crested Ten in the mail. I'm not one for easily picking flavors out of the spirits, but this is one of my favorites so far.
