J.J. Corry didn't hold back on this impressive Irish single malt whiskey, aged for the best part of three decades after it was distilled in 1991. Left for 27 years, it was then bottled at a cask strength of 52% ABV, dubbed The Chosen. This is no ordinary bottle, either - it's a hand-blown, hand-cut crystal decanter, kept safe in a handmade ash presentation box. Keep an eye out, hidden in the bottom of each pedestal is a small wax-dipped sample so you can taste the whiskey without cracking open the bottle.
Superbly elegant and rich. Dried mango yields to layers of polished wood, toffee, chestnuts and a most wonderful rancio.
A burst of surprisingly young fruits, with a luscious oily mouthfeel giving way to a hint of incense.
The length continues as the initial fruits slowly ripen and there is a final wisp of smoke.
