Jack Daniel's Single Barrel - Barrel Strength

JD Barrel Strength Bottling Note

Jack Daniel’s is a huge distillery with a variety of output, not just the classic whiskey you’ve seen the world over. But seeing as we’re so used to the classic bottling, it's always rather interesting to see Jack Daniel's Tennessee Whiskey drawn from a single barrel and then bottled at cask strength. It's intense, flavoursome stuff, well worth a spot in your drinks collection.

Tasting Note by The Chaps at Master of Malt

Nose Oak spices, honey, a whiff of smoke, walnut.

Palate Dried fruit (raisins and apple slices), cigar box, cinnamon and cedar.

Finish Peppery, though with enough caramel to balance the heat.

Reviews for Jack Daniel's Single Barrel - Barrel Strength
An intensely rich expression.
These days, I tend to buy cask-strength whiskey; regular, diluted expressions cannot match up to the complexity and richness afforded by pure, unadulterated whiskey in its natural form. JD SB | BS is the epitome of natural whiskey. Drawn from a single barrel, cask strength and natural colour. Wow! I got the barrel: 21-05150; this is my experience. Single barrel, by nature, has variations in taste and character.

Nose: Oak, spices, sweetness, banana and old leather.

Palate: Intense with an incredible viscosity on the tongue. It explodes with flavour on the palate— vanilla, black pepper, warming oak, more bananas, dried fruits, and caramel. The oak warms your tongue as you taste the whiskey but even neat or diluted to 50%+ ABV, there is no alcohol bite.

Finish: Seemingly never-ending. A lot of caramel and toffee, spiciness, freshly cracked black pepper and a very pronounced artificial banana taste at the very end.

This is what Jack Daniels should be. This is miles away from Old No.7; this is a super premium, damn fine Tennessee whiskey that should be savoured neat or with a bit of water. A drop of water brings out the inherent distillery sweetness of Jack.

Interesting.. but how to drink it
Interesting.. but how does one drink it? Surely, cant be mixed with Coke.. would destroy it.

Exceptional
I prefer American whisky, normally bourbon. However this is the best whisky I have tasted. A great burn on the finish. Exceptional.

Wow
Love this release. Since trying it blind with some friends 5 months ago, I was blown away. I have since purchased 5 more bottles of this. Absolutely stunning, especially for the price. Thick, spicy, rich flavours. A beast to be sure, but one worth having - many times.

Like drinking honey and banana bread.
I don't like Jack Daniels but thought I'd try this after hearing good things. It's like drinking sweet banana bread! On the nose you get oak, raisin, honey. I let it sit for 15 mins and it got better, even more complex. On the palate it's thick and oily, you get some baking spice, banana, treacle with a hot oaky finish, but to be expected at this strength. This is nothing like the cheap JD no. 7, it's incredible. My favourite whiskey ever.
