A fantastic 46 year old single grain whisky from Invergordon distillery, cask number 4(!). Bottled at natural cask strength by Adelphi, this whisky was distilled back in 1966.
Sweet nutmeg, vanilla and pine needles. Gooseberries, freshly sliced green apple.
Sweet, rich and mouth-filling with melon and caramel. Vanilla, marmalade.
Warming with milk chocolate and a hint of new leather.

This whisky changed my view of grain whisky and even scotch whisky in general. I've always thought grains to exude higher-toned flavors and this one is no exception. However, it is just mellow and smooth as can be while maintaining the brightness - a fascinating paradox. Extremely complex, hard-to-place. I tried it next to some (opposite-end-of-the spectrum) top proprietary malts - Glenfarclas 40 and Glenlivet 25. This one is just as complex and just as good a whisky in it's own weird world. I have become an old grain fan.
If this is not served in Heaven, it shoud be
