Description

Released for the Travel Retail market, Voyage of the Raven is a rather dramatically-named Highland Park single malt that has been matured in a rather high proportion of first-fill Sherry seasoned casks. The aforementioned dramatic name comes from the reverence that ravens received from Vikings of old.

Nose

Chocolate mousse and black cherry, with a subtle wisp of floral smoke.

Palate

Peat is still in the background, but this expression is very much a showcase of Sherried Highland Park malt.

Finish

Drying Christmas-y spices last on the finish.

Beautiful Whiskey

Rich smokiness

Voyage Of Raven has very smoky flavor. Maybe even a bit too much. It's not bad, but certainly different than others. It needs a few drops of water to open. I'm not sure will I buy this one again. If you like other Highland Park whiskies, you might like this one too. But if you are a fan of round and smooth whiskies, this is not for you.
