Orkney's Highland Park has once again bottled up a brill single malt at cask strength and bestowed it a pleasingly straightforward name – feast your eyes upon Highland Park Cask Strength Release No.2! This particular edition was made with a combination of sherry seasoned European and American oak casks, alongside a few ex-bourbon casks, selected by master whisky maker Gordon Motion. Sitting at a robust 63.9% ABV, this one offers up plenty of fruit, vanilla, and smoke notes to enjoy.
Roast chestnuts, pear drops, earthy smoke and with a hint of caraway.
Savoury peat and a smidge of salted liquorice, plus thick honey, crunchy red apple, and cassia.
Almond, chocolate, red chilli flake, and oak.

Nice and smooth, little bit of smokey, fruity, powerful but alcohol are nice hidden.
Spent the last 20 days living in this same house with my son and then my wife with covid omicron. Gargled 30 seconds each evening it’s this delicious but strong cask strength neat whisky and despite sleeping in the same bed as my wife and not distancing I have not been infected. Now I’m triple vaccinated and don’t know if this killed covid but I have enjoyed drinking it each night and believe it probably helped. As a whisky it’s great.
Christmas cake, touch of smoke. Could nose this all day. Like the the dude below says, flavours match the strength. Well done, Highland Park.
Slightly less peated than HP12 but packs a huge punch. Everything is more dramatic and the flavours more than match the bumped up ABV. One of my absolute favourites.
