Highland Park 12yo

With a sub-name like Viking Honour, you can expect a lot from this Orcadian single malt Scotch whisky – and it delivers! A great introduction to Highland Park's famed heathery peat smoke, the 12 Year Old is matured predominantly in sherry-seasoned European and American oak casks, so it's spicy, citrusy, and full of smoky aromatics.

Tasting Note by The Chaps at Master of Malt

Nose Fresh, clean and very aromatic. Floral notes abound the senses with a light grassiness. Notes of creamy Manuka honey and a touch of juicy citrus with cream and a well-balanced sweetness.

Palate Rather full with a pleasant depth. Lurking somewhere in the substratum a grilled orange lies. Notes of granary toast and green tea with jasmine. A touch of sweetness.

Finish Quite long with peppery spice and wood shavings.

Reviews for Highland Park 12 Year Old - Viking Honour
Nothing exceptional
Highland Park is a household name, but I don’t remember ever trying their whiskey.
It’s a typical Scotch whiskey, I would say, a bit smokey, a bit sweet, maybe warmer than usual, but nothing above its price.

Great bottle to drink
I felt the need to counter the rather stupid previous review, from someone clearly more stuck on the Viking theme than the taste. Highland Park is a great whisky, taken for what it is, the lower end of the market, this the 10 and 12, are all easy drinking, lower priced entry level samples from this great distillery, there is some peat, a bit of spice and a lovely fresh sweet note, the flavour is long and lingers on the palate, yes it’s only 40%, drink it neat of with a tiny splash of water only

Pants
Thin with a bit of peat and a hint of honey... but mostly watery cardboard.

Cheap for a reason, it's rubbish.

Your money goes on a stupid marketing trip about vikings or something. The vikings left Orkney a thousand years before H.P. showed up.
