One of the more deluxe expressions from Highland Park's Warriors series, the Ragnvald was made using whiskies drawn mostly from European oak casks and a smattering of American oak casks. The name comes from a Viking well known for his sailing and acquiring of valuable trinkets, like spices, fabrics and jewels.
Waxy orange and vanilla, red apple slices, brown sugar and old oak. There's a hint of long-aged Sherry in there too...
Flaky pastries ahoy! Lots of almond croissant and lemon danish notes up front, soon joined by more old Sherry, leather and ground cinnamon.
Dark chocolate, coastal smoke and dried fruit. Very long.

Reminds us of the past HPs. Quite complex. Nutty. Gentle smokiness. A lot of sherry, cinnamon spice. A tad of tobacco leathery flavour but only just. I paid £300 & quite happy with it.
One of the best drams out there..
