The stupendous first bottling in Highland Park's Valhalla Collection, showcasing Orkney's Scandinavian connections. This first edition was made in honour of Thor, the Norse God of Thunder and supposed creator of the Cliffs of Yesnaby on Orkney's west coast. A staggeringly good cask strength 16 year old malt, packaged in a frame inspired by a viking long ship!

Big, bold notes of stem ginger, smoke, antique shops, calves leather, malt, cigars (both unlit and smoking) prune juice, treacle and raisin sweetness.
Tangy, rich and full, it envelopes the palate in notes of tropical fruits (mango, guava), as well as nectarine in syrup, nutmeg, dried ginger, blackcurrant and custard. A plume of coastal air with thick woodsmoke develops. A little salty butter.
Powerful and muscular finish, ginger, nutmeg, cocoa and espresso on the tail.

I live in Ontario Canada and have been trying to order this for a while, but I can't find anyone who will ship it here.
I gave this to a close friend of mine who was high in praise of it's quality.
A little different then the standard range of hp but great non-the less. Also does very well with a few drops of water.
The first of this collection from Highland Park really lives up to it's name. Not for the faint-hearted, expect a kick like no other!
