A very special expression from Highland Park. Few distilleries have the requisite whisky stocks to add a 40 year old to the core of their range. Highland Park made sure this was sure to turn heads with stunning packaging. The bottles are adorned with a silver amulet, the glass bottle was specially created by Stolze Flaconnage and the box was finished to cabinet quality by Mount Gabriel.
Rich and full. Notes of pine and eucalyptus oil with hints of manuka honey. Some fruit notes, grassy heather and mixed peels developing with gentle smoke.
Full and a little oily. Notes of leafy greenness and marzipan with hints of sherry. Seville marmalade and a little spice.
The finish is long with perfumed notes and zesty bitter oak.

I like Highland Park, it is very smooth but has always lacked a little something. This little beauty builds on the smooth refined flavour with an extra smokey honeyed overtone giving the dram the edge I always felt it needed. It is simply sublime. Given as a gift and offered a taste - wish I'd declined its so good.
Absolutely amazing dram. I tried this on site at Highland Park after a tour. Exquisite and syrupy, leathery nose and mouthfeel. Probably the perfect age, where the cask is just about to become a little intrusive (but hasn't just yet). So sweet - beautiful slightly burnt dark brown sugar, and a hint of that smokiness everyone loves from the pure Orkney peat. The easiest 10 I could ever give - it's tempting to take out a second mortgage so I could afford this. Maybe when I turn 40......
I have experienced the pleasure of this fine whisky in a local pub. I enjoyed it so much i have bought a bottle.
Great... but the pricing for the 3 cl sample is outrageous...
