Description

Here we have Heaven's Door Straight Rye, created by Bob Dylan (yes, that exact Bob Dylan you're thinking of) and Marc Bushala (co-founder of Angel's Envy Bourbon).

This 100% rye whiskey spends 6-8 years maturing before a finishing period in Amontillado sherry casks, which imparts a fruity and nutty complexity. Weather permitting, the finishing process lasts up to six months, lending this rye a unique sweet-and-spicy character.

Bottled at 43% ABV, it’s a medal magnet, with Golds in San Francisco and New York, and 93 points from the Ultimate Spirits Challenge.

Nose

Bursting with orange zest and tropical fruits, balanced by a herbal edge of coriander and fresh-cut spice. A trace of almond lingers in the background.

Palate

Layers of tropical mango and pineapple are laced with honey and creamy caramel, followed by hints of vanilla and gentle spice. The Amontillado influence brings a luscious depth.

Finish

he spice mellows into a refreshing touch of mint, leaving a long, delicate finale that’s both slightly drying and enticingly succulent.

Delicious, smooth, complex, easy-drinking ... and did I say delicious? The bottle decoration is a work of (Bob's) art in itself. This is my go-to rye, and my preferred Heaven's Door iteration ... the others are fine too, but this one is my firm favourite. As I said ... ACE!
