Glenturret single malt - but not quite as you know it. This right here is heavily peated whisky from Glenturret, released under the Ruadh Maor name and bottled by Claxton's. It was distilled in March 2009 and left to age in a single hogshead for 9 years before being bottled at cask strength. 327 bottles were produced.
Heavy wafts of BBQ smoke and sea spray.
Cured meat and salted peanuts. A touch of vanilla hides behind these robust flavours, peeking out every once in a while.
Soot, grilled lemon, sea salt.

Got 9 out of 10 in blind tasting from the people who say Islay stuff is the best. So this tells a lot. Very well balanced, some even didn't bother to add water.
Cracking dram. Smoke with a BBQ twist.
Different, in a good way. Glenturret seems to suit peat. quite moorish. only downside would be I don't think the cask has been very active for the nine years of holding the otherwise sumptuous spirit. Big up Claxton's!!
