Ruadh Maor 9yo 2009

Glenturret single malt - but not quite as you know it. This right here is heavily peated whisky from Glenturret, released under the Ruadh Maor name and bottled by Claxton's. It was distilled in March 2009 and left to age in a single hogshead for 9 years before being bottled at cask strength. 327 bottles were produced.

Tasting Note by The Chaps at Master of Malt

Nose Heavy wafts of BBQ smoke and sea spray.

Palate Cured meat and salted peanuts. A touch of vanilla hides behind these robust flavours, peeking out every once in a while.

Finish Soot, grilled lemon, sea salt.

Reviews for Ruadh Maor 9 Year Old 2009 (cask 1844-91) - Claxton's
Brilliant
Got 9 out of 10 in blind tasting from the people who say Islay stuff is the best. So this tells a lot. Very well balanced, some even didn't bother to add water.

Smokey Haven
Cracking dram. Smoke with a BBQ twist.

Pretty good stuff
Different, in a good way. Glenturret seems to suit peat. quite moorish. only downside would be I don't think the cask has been very active for the nine years of holding the otherwise sumptuous spirit. Big up Claxton's!!
