Glenrothes Robur Reserve is a fabulous little travel retail exclusive, named for European of Spanish oak, Quercus Robur. This is aged with a good proportion of first fill Oloroso sherry casks…
Sherry on the nose, sweet Olosoro, pepper, berry fruits, calves leather and cedar wood.
Sweet spices, nutmeg, prune juice, a hint of uncooked pastry, a little golden syrup and Demerara rum.
Cloves, more of those prunes, a hint of dried apricot and toasted barley.

Got a bottle after reading pos reviews on MoM. Very nice, easy drinkin dram. Should probably get 4.5, if i hadn't just got through a bottle of the Sherry Reserve, which is excellent, & begs the question- why aren't the NAS Macallans as good? IMHO probably because Glenrothes carved their own path, with individual vintages, avoiding the 10/12/15 etc route. So, now many of our old favourite Speysiders are struggling in the quality dept, but Glenrothes are still releasing lots of good expressions. I've been a fan of the Select Reserve for the last 5 years, & the 2 new expressions i've tasted have impressed me just as much. Take note Diageo, Chivas & Edrington.
Managed to get it again after my business trip. This is just lovely. Very smooth and easy to drink. Worth the price.
my personal favourite single malt, would definitely recommend it for whiskey drinkers of almost any stripe. An easy to drink option with a satisfying finish.
Nice and Easy to drink.
Mild scent. Sweet finish, almost like a honeybun or light maple glaze. Easy in the mouth with the lingering essence of praline. Slow warmth.
