The latest core expression from the Glenrothes catalogue, this 1998 vintage follows on from the previous 1994. The first bottling made with Gordon Motion as the Glenrothes Malt Master.
Nose: Very spicy and creamy with oodles of sweet vanilla, gingernut biscuits, golden syrup, hints of citrus and malt.
Palate: A creamy, malt-driven palate with sweet winter spices, particularly cinnamon. Rhubarb crumble with hot custard and hints of black pepper.
Finish: Good length with more vanilla and a suggestion of nutmeg on the tail.

Mellow and creamy delight. It focuses on essential and is very successful at that. Perfect dram to enjoy with good friends.

I just love whiskies with a lot of creamy cereal characteristics and that aren't too sweet but not overly smoky either. Scapa would be great except for the chill filtering and fake color. I was hoping this 98 Glenrothes would have some creaming cereal qualities. It didn't. It tasted like a slightly better Cutty Sark to me. It was young, bitter, and filled with hot alcohol that was anything but creamy. I need to add some water next time. Maybe that will help. . . .

I'm from Siberia. One of the softest of whiskey I ever drank. Pure alchohol and very mild taste. Sorry my English. Awesome, bravo !Note: You can drink a lot more acceptable dose. Too tasty.

It is a light and very drinkable dram. The nose is great, with a lot of spice and sweetness. However, the palate is too simple. Mostly citrus and caramel, with a short finish. Probably a great scotch for those first starting out and don't want anything too complex.

For those of you looking for a warming, easy drinking whisky that could stand up to a curry, then this is it. It could convert those who 'don't drink whisky', and is particularly pleasing to us ladies, who often note the subtle nuances missed by the gents! Sorry boys.
