Glenrothes 25yo Soleo

The Soleo Collection from Glenrothes takes its name from the process of sun-drying grapes for sherry making in Jerez, so you're in for a sherried treat here. The range also eschews the vintages as seen on previous Glenrothes bottlings, instead featuring age statements on most of them. This one is a 25 year old expression, and features a high proportion of first fill sherry seasoned oak casks at its core. Yummers.

Tasting Note by The Chaps at Master of Malt

Nose Stewed plums and apples, polished oak furniture, cigar box leading to a slight hint of soft smoke.

Palate Rounded malty notes peer out from behind vibrant cooked berry and mulled wine sweetness. Oak spices arrive on the mid-palate, but mellow swiftly.

Finish Caramelised dates, mango and old leather.

Where’s the abv?
It’s not a bad bottle but a 25 year at this abv level can’t help but be a bit of a letdown.

Creme de la creme
If you try one bottle before the year is out make it this one! This one delivers in a way I’ve never seen from the Glenrothes or almost any other Speyside. Complexity in a glass !
