18 year old single malt from Glenrothes, released as part of the Soleo Collection. This series was named after the process of sun-drying grapes for the production of sherry in Jerez, and as such you should expect plenty of sherry notes throughout the range. This one features a very high proportion of first-fill sherry seasoned oak cask matured whisky at its core.
Decadent vanilla and orange, with hints of cherry and almond developing.
Still packing plenty of dried fruit notes, alongside crisp pear and a spicy touch of stem ginger.
Lasting sweetness of vanilla and pear, with peppery flourishes.
Plum, red apple, soy sauce, mushroom, not quite truffle, orange, meaty; spiciness swells slowly into the finish, lingers a bit, and trails off quickly, not a sherry bomb, but very satisfying.
The best Glenrothes I’ve had in years. Better than most of the vintages, and that’s really saying something. I’m enormously impressed by the complexity
Very nice bottle. Perfect winter dram and an excellent edition to the rothes single malt legacy. Think vanilla ice cream !
