Glenmorangie Milsean

Glenmorangie Milsean is the seventh release from the popular Private Edition range. Dr Bill Lumsden and his team took inspiration from sweetshops and all their wondrous confectioneries to create this limited edition expression, using whisky that was initially matured in ex-bourbon casks and then matured further in flamed-toasted casks that previously held Portuguese wine. The name Milsean comes from the Scots Gaelic for 'Sweet Things', so if you've got a bit of a sweet tooth, this'll be the whisky for you!

This bottle was part of a private collection - if you'd like more detailed photos just get in touch!

Tasting Note by The Chaps at Master of Malt

Nose Seaside fudge, coconut ice, blueberries and candied peels. Develops more 'fresh fruit' than 'candied fruit' with a drop of water.

Palate Cinnamon spice begins to develop, alongside yellow plum, melon and more coconut. Subtly oak-y, but the focus here is on the fruity sweetness, which hints more towards orange segments as it goes on.

Finish An intriguing balance of sweetness and spice (think strawberry laces and ginger snaps) finish it off.

Overall They aimed to evoke sweetshops and they've hit the nail on the head!

Absolutely fantastic for a bourbon lover this is a fantastic scotch. Bought six and have secreted them away to be savored for the next several years.

I wish it wasn't gone...
I loved the smell of this. In fact, I found myself just idly enjoying the buttery sweet aroma more than I usually do between sips. The taste was classic vanilla cream Glenmorangie but more spicy pudding sweetness (like strawberry syrup).

Sweet, soft and mellow
The re-toasted Portuguese wine casks add an amazing depth to this. The nose is full of subdued soft fruit especially berries and the palate is mouth watering candied fruits both fresh and dried with some spice on the finish. Perfect aperitif and digestif both. A beautiful addition to the Private Edition range, very much looking forward to the 9th release.

Sweet with great aftertaste
Had this at "On the Rocks" in NYC. A little sweeter than other Glenmorangie, but very smooth. Highly recommend.

Spicy yummieness
Nose: Sugarsweet, lovely balance between dried and fresh fruits. Buttery, creamy fudge.
Taste: A lot of spice! Sweet, candied fruits and barley sugar. The spice balances out the sweetness.
Finish: Long, spicy, warm and sweet.
This is a lovely dram, it has its unique personality and is really spicy.

Different is not bad; Second time around is better
The first time I tried this delight, I wasn't impressed. It tasted "commercial" and aimed at the masses. Think gimmicky even. I wasn't impressed and put it away. I returned tonight fully expecting the same reaction. However, after I inhaled the fresh, sweet scent, I immediately had a change of heart. It's different, for sure. But after my first sip, I realized that different, even this different, can be good. It's smooth and tasteful, light on the palate, yet bold. So I give is a thumbs up. Try it.

Simply amazing
This Glenmorangie Milsean is absolutely incredible . Candied fruit and sweet caramel instantly get picked up in the nose and transition beautifully to a well balanced taste of an old fashioned sweet shop . I'm calling it now..... This will be a tough one to find in a few years !

Enjoy it now while you can :) great price for the value
