A 13-year-old Glenlossie from Duncan Taylor. Matured in sherry casks, this is a lively, fairly young whisky.
This one is all about fresh barley, malt, ripe apples and green vegetables. Mashed potatoes, faint hints of white truffles, vanilla-flavoured yoghurt, bread crumb. Also some ginger tonic. Playful and lively, with a pretty oakiness starting to shine through after a while.
The green, fruity tastes continue along with quite big tannins, as well as the spices and white pepper.
A long finish over which baked fruit slowly takes precedence over the fresher notes on the palate.
An entertaining whisky with an interesting development for what is a relatively young dram.
Brilliant! Writing this as I am revering its refined silkiness. Malt grain, fruit complex of apples, pears, and loads of honey and vanilla. Nose properties on par with those on the palate. Beautiful, beautiful stuff...
