Description

An older edition of Glengoyne's 15-year-old single malt, produced before its bottles underwent a redesign in 2020. This is a rich, rounded single malt, completely devoid of peat smoke thanks to air-drying the barley. It is aged in both bourbon and first-fill sherry casks, with some refill cask whisky thrown in for good measure.

This bottle was part of a private collection - if you'd like more detailed photos just get in touch!

Praise a friend

My roommate moved to the other side of The Atlantic ocean and left an almost full bottle of this stuff behind. Artturi, you will be missed but I will remember you whenever enjoying this lovely dram. Excellent choice if one wants to buy a whisky with no smoke or peat at all.

So tasty

If you are looking for a break from the obsession with peat, this is the perfect Scotch. It's not peated but it's very complex and perfect from start to finish. One of my favorite single malts now and I highly recommend

Good scotch

Im a new fan of Japanese whiskey but this is good. Has a smooth sweet taste like yamazaki 12, but the nose is oak. Not quite as complex or strong as yamazaki 12 but almost as good. 3 1/2 stars

Smooth, really smooth!

The tasting notes are pretty spot on, there is definitely butterscotch flavours and Demerara sugar to the nose, a distinct oiliness with a hint of salted butter and walnuts, but unusually for a 43%ABV it appears to evaporate in the mouth to be breathed in rather than drunk down. No real alcohol burn but a definite warming of the throat and nasal cavity, very nice, easily drinkable and smooth with a lingering peppery smokiness on the tongue. Overall happy with this, although with purchasing from the Distillery it wasn't particularly cheap, but definitely superior to the 10YO.

My new all-time favorite scotch.....ever

My parents signed me up for a temporary subscription to a monthly scotch club as a birthday gift and I was very excited about it - partly because I live in Virginia where spirits are regulated under the firm hand of the ABC, so the scotch selection here is a joke. I have a book of scotch that lists what is supposed to be all known distilleries and single malts in existence, so whenever I travel out of state for work I try to go to nearby liquor stores so that I can pick up a scotch I've never had and check it off my list. My first scotch in the club was a mild disappointment because I'd had it before. But then....the next month....enter the 15-year Glengoyne. While I do appreciate the robust peaty scotches like Laphroig or Lagavulin or Oban or Talisker or Caol Ila, etc., they are in a class of their own and I tend to lean more towards the oaky scotches. That said, this bottle of Glengoyne was right up my alley. Okay, I'm downplaying it; this stuff is like the nectar of the gods to me. I do have Glengoyne checked off on my list, but I had it several years ago and I must've had the 12 year or I had a cold or my palette was having an off day or-- holy crap, this is some good scotch. The vanilla notes really do jump out and the creaminess of it just washes over my tongue. The first sip of this made my eyes involuntarily close and my palette had a tastegasm. If I was still single, I'd marry this scotch. If I could have even just one sip of this every single night for the rest of my life, I would be happy. Alas, I'm not sure when I'll even get another bottle of this so until then it is going to sit under lock and key, reserved only for special occasions.
