Glenfiddich Finest Solera - Cask Collection
A pretty snazzy release from Glenfiddich's Cask Collection, Finest Solera was originally released for travel retail. It's matured in American oak bourbon casks, which are then married in a Portuguese oak solera tun (which can hold up to 20 of these casks). Different casks are selected to for each batch (so no two are ever the same), and malt master Brian Kinsman ensures the tun always remains at least half full. Less than 1,000 bottles are produced each batch, and what's more, each decanter is hand-blown and individually numbered, and comes complete with a very fancy presentation box.
Tasting Note by The Producer
Nose
Rich vanilla and toffee notes overlaid with a deep oakiness. Adding a few drops of water releases a ripe autumn fruitiness, full of red berries, rich apricots and poached pear.
Palate
Velvety smooth and mellow. Luxurious oak and sweet crème brûlée flavours intertwine with soft spices, raw cane sugar and caramelised fruit.
Finish
Beautiful with a long-lasting sweetness.
