Glenfarclas 17 Year Old Whisky

Glenfarclas 17 Year Old

Glenfarclas 17 Bottling Note

A delicious, richly sherried Glenfarclas aged for 17 years and launched for the travel retail market. Loads of character and depth, just what we've come to expect from the distillery.

Tasting Note by The Chaps at Master of Malt

Nose: Complex and sophisticated, notes of buttery toffee, malt sherried peels, dates and even a hint of peat!

Palate: Full-bodied and rich, it fills and coats the palate with warming nutmeg, sherried fruits, cinnamon and mixed peels.

Finish: Long, spicy and sweet with just a hint of smoke on the tail.

Reviews for Glenfarclas 17 Year Old
The perfect dram for the price.
It’s my go-to scotch. Sometimes a scotch just hits the right note and is perfect; it’s very personal. I used to love an 18 year Glenfiddich but it wasn’t terribly complex. The Glenfarclas 17 goes down nicely and gives me everything I want from a moderately aged scotch. Keep your overpriced Macallans, Glenfarclas is for those in the know.

One of my new favorites.
I'm not going to give tasting notes. I think that has been done to death in other reviews. Glenfarclas was never on the radar for me until I got a bottle of Glenfarclas 17 as a gift. I tend to shy away from the older scotches since they are rarely worth the money. But this one I loved, so I decided to try the Glenfarclas 12 to see if the 17 was worth the difference in price. No brainer since I found the 12 rather boring. And the other nice thing, for a 17 year old, the ~$100 price tag was a pleasant surprise.

Excellent Sherry +
This is a very good sherried whisky and when it is on special, as it is now at Nick's Wine Merchants in Doncaster...go Nicks! -- it is simply a bargain.

Fav Farclas!
Glenfarclas is often hit and miss for me, but this one is amazing. Orange peel, plum, sweet malt/cereal, barrel spice and a nice sherried finish. I can get in Aus for around £50 which I think is a deal all day long!

It's a steal
I buy half a bottle for 33 dollars here in Sweden.. could it really be the same whisky? It tastes really good!

A too expensive bottle for what you get
The nose was very pleasant so I had high expectations. Malt and toffee coming through. The palate was slightly bitter and the alcohol content subdued the flavors. The finish left the flavor in my mouth longer than I like. I like a clean mouth feel afterwards.

Would I recommend it? No.

Beautiful stuff
Surprised by the low ratings on this I absolutely love everything I have had from this distillery and this might just be my favorite. The nose is quite tame hints of sherry and red apples and even the initial taste lulls you into thinking this might not be worth the money but then my friends the finish comes along and stays with you for so long continuing to develop. Longest and most incredible finish I've ever tasted in a whisky so much butterscotch, vanilla, cinnamon apple, toffee, frosting, orange peel and it just keeps going. Smoothness is amazing as well doesn't need any water it is perfect neat. Got this as a Christmas gift and I am truly stunned by how good it is was gonna give it a 9 but really I think it deserves a 10 so that's what it gets. This is an outstanding whisky and probably the most treasured in my collection right now. Totally worth the money can't think of a better 17 or 18 year honestly. Cheers! The Sugarbear
