Tasting Note by The Chaps at Master of Malt

Nose: Light and creamy with a mix of supple, soft sherry and Manuka honey. Gentle and well-balanced, there are hints of smoke, rich oak, and a little pine resin.

Palate: Medium-bodied, with notes of date and walnut cake, Oloroso sherry and hints of earthy forest floor. A beautiful note of malt, with toffee apple and a touch of smoke.

Finish: Spicy and long, notes of allspice, cinnamon and cloves, with orange zest and sherry.

Glenfarclas 12 Year Old Reviews

Sherry Bomb or Cherry Bomb?

I got cherries all over on this one. A little pine on the first whiff, almost like cherry cough medicine. Palate is sweet, creamy, and the sherry is abundant. My brain sez “more cherries and caramel!” May not Beas complex as the Macallan sherry cask, but it’s taste is special in its own vein. Love it! Price is nice.

Solid...quality...good finish.

Battling it against the Highland 12 Viking...Glenfarclas pulls ahead in its complex finish...tasty, less bitter and keeps coming on. Its the real deal...

Very Underrated

Below post *Had to be a bad bottle.

This is balanced scotch rich dates, sherry and ginger finish. Very underrated.

One star, only so I could rate it.

I received a bottle recently for my birthday. Quite possibly the worst Scotch I’ve ever tasted. No flavor, nasty alcohol taste, like drinking rubbing alcohol. Perhaps the bottle was spoiled, but the one I have is undrinkable.

Sulphured

The first seriously sulphured bottle of whisky I have bought and it is off-putting. Shame as I love the overall style of this malt. Would probably give another bottle a go:

Great, fruity sherried whisky

A lot of whisky for a reasonable amount of money! Dried plum, mint, cloves, toffee, nutmeg... and a touch of english tea and lemon zest on the finish. One of the whiskies you can always find on my shelf.

Smooth single malt

Great full flavoured Sherry whiskey! Nice creamy palate and smooth after finish.

Superb

Cracking whisky. Just buy it.
Glenfarclas is probably my favourite “unpeated” distillers, they have never disappointed in providing a first class product, full of flavour.

105, 15, 18, 21 and 25 all better but in relation to the price they are all stunning value.
I say it again, thank you glenfarclas! I will always have a glenfarclas on the go in the collection.

Glendronach 12 beats this any day.

Recently purchased the Glendronach 12 and the Glenfarclas 12. Glendronach is by far the better of the two.
