GlenDronach Allardice Bottling Note

The GlenDronach 18 year old Allardice is named after the distillery’s founder, James Allardice. The Highlander was matured completely in Oloroso sherry casks, and was originally released in 2009 following the distillery changing hands back in 2008. An exceptional fruity sherried single malt.

Please note: We're afraid we can't guarantee which vintage you will receive. It'll still be yummy GlenDronach no matter the vintage, mind!

Tasting Note by The Chaps at Master of Malt

Nose: Sherry notes so thick you need a knife to cut them! There's a hint of old rum in there too, with pineapple and brown sugar in tow.

Palate: Christmas cake, rum again, chocolate-coated hazelnut, runny honey and a hint of Sauternes.

Finish: Fresh blackcurrant, blueberry pancakes with a generous helping of maple syrup.

GlenDronach 18 Year Old Allardice Reviews

Best Whisky Ever!

If I could give this 10/5 I would. By far the best whisky I’ve ever had. From the colour, to the nose and that oh so so so so long finish I can still taste it hours after the first sip. Only bad thing I could say is that every other scotch is always going to be compared to this one and won’t ever be as good.

Superb.

Superb. Long finish, deeply complex. Worth every penny.

Brilliant

A sherry bomb with a nose that fills the room! Sweet, smooth, treacle with a long lasting finish. Well worth the £110 price tag. Onto the 21 next!

Great whisky

It really is a wonderful dram. Loads of fruit in there and a spiced apple cake finish. Not worth spending £100+ on it though...

Not worth the money

The 15yr is probably my favourite whisky, and so thought to try the 18. The colour along with the taste is much richer and superior, however the finish is nowhere near as smooth and makes it far less pleasing to drink overall.
On the upside it means I prefer the cheaper whisky!

End of a long hunt!

In the late 90s Macallan's 18 year old was my favourite dram. Sadly the cost of this sublime drop have rocketed, putting it largely out of my league. For years, i have been looking for a replacement for the old favourite, which i remember mostly for its brown sugar and caramel toffee aftertaste. Well, I think I have finally found it in this GlenDronach 18. Sublime, smooth, with all the toffee caramel i remember. A lovely drop!

Highly recommended. Thick n warming...

Update, after two weeks, and 30% of the bottle gone: I like this the more I drink it. The slightly off (minor) back-taste seems to have gone and this is showing tons of deep fruit and malty warmth. It's hard to walk past the cabinet (no doors) without pouring a little one...

Liquid Fudge Spiced Brownie - A classic

Ohhhh this is a wee ripper!! Sweet, scorched caramel, brown sugar and fruit cake and a hint of spice dance all around your tongue. This absolutely beats the GlenDronach 21 which seems to not have as much charachter. Pair with some dark chocolate or a mild cigar. Just gorgeous.

Very good, but not 'superb'

Delicious, moreish stuff. Can't say I agree with the berries in the fanciful tasting notes here. Rich, intense, with a backbone of something I can't put my finger on; want to say 'malt' (don't laugh).
Don't regret buying it, but not sure I'd go for it again. There's plenty of rich intensity out there without having to spend £98.
Still, tasty, rich stuff
