GlenDronach 43 Year Old 1972 (cask 706) - Batch 12
The oldest bottling in the 12th batch of single cask releases from the excellent GlenDronach distillery in the Highlands is this 43 year old single malt. It was matured in a single Pedro Ximénez Sherry butt from February 1972 to August 2015, when it was bottled at 51.1% ABV. Just 414 bottles were produced... Very exciting stuff from a highly-anticipated range.
Tasting Note by The Chaps at Master of Malt
Nose
Fragrant tobacco and herbaceous warmth. Quite chocolatey and rich in stewed plum and raisin (as you'd expect after it spent over 40 years in a Pedro Ximénez cask).
Palate
Decadent, rich raisin, flamed orange zest and a generous slice of fruit cake.
Finish
Tobacco notes return with a soft, elegant hint of oak.
