Another fantastic Sherried single cask bottling from GlenDronach. Quite rightly hugely popular with those in the know. 663 bottles emerged from the single Oloroso puncheon in September 2015 after over 19 years, the whisky having been distilled on 1st November 1995.
Rick oak and espresso, dried fruit and treacle.
Cinnamon and cocoa, more espresso, chestnut and Sherried oak.
Cocoa and dark spices.
Super Sherried Highland goodness.
I found this bottle in my collection.....with only a third left...truly wonderful...I have to keep tasting it to get a handle on the party it's throwing in my mouth..almost candy sweet...but there's heat and an explosion midpalate that subsides..into a dryness & then a delightful aftertaste...it's difficult not to keep doing this....but w restraint made easier by the long lingering tasty thrill still going on minutes later....I used a few drops of water..55.7 alcohol..delivers quite an amazing dram...could recent expressions compete ??? This is up there w the old pulteney 21 17 and 12 yr olds...where miracles also abound for me...
This is one of the best sherried whiskies I've ever had, the nose is amazing. It's a bit drier on the palate than, say Parliament 21yo, but much more of a sherry monster. 5 stars!
