Glendalough 13YO

13 year old single malt Irish whiskey, released by Glendalough. It's allowed to age in bourbon casks for its maturation, which results in waves and waves of caramel and vanilla notes...

Tasting Note by The Chaps at Master of Malt

Nose Notes of thick vanilla pod, citrus peels and cinnamon.

Palate Toffee pennies, dark chocolate, a touch of warming oak and a subtle fruity note as it develops.

Finish Spicier on the finish.

Reviews for Glendalough 13 Year Old Irish Whiskey
Worth it
My favorite Irish Whiskey. Smooth and comforting. The taste in comparison to the common Irish Whiskeys is remarkably distinct and well worth the price.

The standard 13 in all its glory.
To anyone who says "it's smooth"... I really wish they'd just never review anything. There is no word more uninteresting and ambiguous than "smooth".

Here's what you need to know about this whisky.

The nose is beautiful, intense, rich, full, sweet, chocolate, fruits, candy, syrup, all the things that scream out "high quality". As you keep nosing after time, it opens up and just becomes better.

The arrival has an impact, its attacking thanks to 2 things .. the 13 year cask maturation and the 46% abv.

So quickly does it then evolve into a beautiful fudge and malt mid palette explosion. Sweet and mouth watering. In a word ... delicious.

When you swallow, right after, that is the only *slight* downfall.. the finish does not live up to the beautiful nose and mid palette .. but the so quickly does the after taste evolve which becomes lovely.

All in all, it is a winner. Money well spent, I might even prefer it to the mizunara finish because you get more of that ex bourbon nuanced character.

Delicious stuff that is sure to please.

Great with anyone - it’s so smooth.
Just opened a new bottle I received from my daughter who is working in Dublin and brought this gem back to States and wanted you to know this is a smooth and great 13 yr old whiskey. Just love sipping it.

Delicious
Creamy and delicious with spiciness, bouquet, banana, honey. This is a very nice dram. From Australia, we are lucky now to have access to a wider range of Irish Whiskies, and that is a very good thing

Not sure if it is, but tastes like it has seen the inside of a sherry barrell for a few years. Wow
The best whiskey (or whisky) I have ever had the pleasure in tasting. If you like an Ardmore style (to my rough palate!) this is similar and better.

Delicious!
I tried this exact same one in Ireland as I was in the Dublin Airport ready to head back home. Up to that point I had only tasted Jack Daniel's, but I tried this and it is absolutely delicious! I'm not a big drinker, but this went down smoothly and I wanted more. I would recommend this 100%!!

Beautifully Balanced
This has great spice and fruit characters. Delicious on the nose and better still on the palate. The bourbon maturation is very well done.
