Glencadam Origin 1825 Reviews

Worth a go at £25

This is pretty decent for the price, it's quite sweet and has a reasonably long and tasty finish. It does seem to have a fair amount of young spirit in there though, which is presumably why it's NAS.

Enjoyed it nonetheless.

A Great bang for your buck

Sweet but complex fruity flavors. This is a pleasant find and one that proves that age and price don't necessarily equal value. This has quickly become one of my new favorites!

OK - but not good

I like Glencadam and have purchased quite a few of their bottlings. I thought I'd try this to see what they managed with a NAS whisky. The answer is - not much. When first opened, it nosed and tasted like a blend and I was not impressed by the first tastes. However, a couple of evenings later I went back to it and it was better - certainly banana and pineapple and a smooth creaminess - but I still wasn't convinced. I think there are far better buys for £27. Bring back the 46% non-chillfiltered 10yo, in my opinion and ditch this NAS version.

Sweet

Not a complex whisky but very tasty. Great juxtaposition with strong Islays. Caramel, butterscotch, anise with chocolate finish. Just enough smoke to keep Scotchy.

Great NAS example

Glencadam continue to produce quality whiskies and this is another award winner, nice and smooth with a little sweetness a great little NAS for not a lot of money.

Poor NAS Example!

Unfortunately Glencadam seem to be following in the footsteps of some other distilleries by adding quite frankly a naff no age statement to their core range. It's expressions like these which taste far too young and new make spirity, that they let the who NAS market down. I couldn't finish my bottle so used it in cooking instead! Sad times whisky drinkers...
