Bourbon
Single cask single malt from Glencadam, independently bottled by your favourite folks ever - Master of Malt (At least, we hope we're your favourite folks ever...). This whisky was distilled in September 2011 and left to mature in a bourbon cask for 6 years, before it was bottled in January 2018 at cask strength (a punchy 65.3% ABV).
A layer of marzipan icing and a few spearmint leaves provide an interesting opening. Fresh malt notes soon take hold and are joined by foam banana sweets and musty oak.
Hot, youthful spice crackles through a palate that is soothed by honey, lemon peel and brown sugar, with hazelnut chocolate in support.
The spice broadens and becomes gingery. It remains for a while with melting chocolate for company.
It’s a dram that needs time to settle, but once it does there’s plenty to enjoy.
