GlenAllachie
Scotland
Single Malt
The Glenallachie Distillery Edition gives some of the spotlight on its label to the Ben Rinnes mountain. Sitting at the foot of the mountain, Glenallachie uses water that comes from a spring 3,000ft up Ben Rinnes' north-east face.
Caramel-dipped apples and pears, with hints of brown sugar and digestive biscuits.
Oodles of vanilla, with a zesty kick of fresh citrus at the centre.
Fruity esters last long on the finish.
When I first opened this bottle, I really didn't like it and did not understand why reviews were so positive. Now, a couple weeks later, it has evolved into a very full and rounded, very pleasant dram. At £20, this was a steal. Secret tip: add a drop of Laphroaig 10!
Lovely nose. Very smooth and pleasantly sweet.
An A rated whisky at a C rated price. An excellent whisky, although it tastes different it is right up there with Glenfiddich 14 & 15 and Glenmorange 10. If you like these whiskies you'll love this one. On the nose, Apple, vanilla, something sweet like toffee and citrus. Tastes similar to the nose but with more sweetness. The finish is an excellent dry medium finish with a lovely warm feeling. Only quibbles, should have an age statement and might not be a favourite of those not to keen on sweeter whiskies
Good one. More than expected.
Love a Spey side but this is sweet to the lips and a gentle sip gives vanilla. This is one of the few I would add water to, but only Glenlivit water.
