Glenallachie D.E. Bottling Note

The Glenallachie Distillery Edition gives some of the spotlight on its label to the Ben Rinnes mountain. Sitting at the foot of the mountain, Glenallachie uses water that comes from a spring 3,000ft up Ben Rinnes' north-east face.

Tasting Note by The Chaps at Master of Malt

Nose: Caramel-dipped apples and pears, with hints of brown sugar and digestive biscuits.

Palate: Oodles of vanilla, with a zesty kick of fresh citrus at the centre.

Finish: Fruity esters last long on the finish.

Glenallachie Distillery Edition Reviews

A cracker

An excellent dram, smooth and a very good introduction to malt whisky for anyone trying a malt for the first time.

Great value

Also got a bottle for £15 from COOP very good value, smooth easy to drink. I wish I had bought another bottle.

5th February 2019

Excellent! Among the best.

I purchased some 13-yr-old Glenallachie and it is unbelievable. I have had some extremely rare malts and this can hold its head up with the best.

Unknown pleasure

Was presented as a present and was unknown to me but what a pleasant, easy to drink smooth malt. Will be on my gift list for others to sample.

21st August 2018

5/5 for value for money!

Bought it for £15, £15!!! What a steal! Excellent value for money.

A good discovery

Got a bottle of Glenallachie Distillery Edition from my workmate (his grandfather used to work at the distillery). Very easy to drink, smooth and great notes of fruits. Definitely worth it.

19th March 2018

Very pleasant with a challenge on the side

Our local Co-op had this reduced at £15! And I hadn't had it before - double whammy! Very enjoyable, easy drinking yet with something to work on - a challenge. Some excellent flavours going on. Better notes maybe when I can concentrate and have had a bit more.

18th March 2018

Very Easy to Drink.

Really enjoyed it! I didn't expect to though, always feel doubtful of no year, single malts.
Very easy drinking, quite mellow but not dull.
Caramel and vanilla as mentioned by others, plus a fruit after taste. toffee apple and marshmallow.

not tasted yet.

just got one for christmas, not yet open yet.but sounds like my type, will post again once i have had peace to open and savour, and who the heck cares about the height difference ,sorry it is of no importance,so as long as it is as good as it soundss, lookinf forward to a wee tatster by the open fire, and a wee bit shortbread mmmm.

A happy choice

I just bought this today from Morrisons for £18, I am more than a little surprised! This is a lovely dram, smooth and hot, easy to drink. I treat myself to a malt every month on payday, I'm not permitted to buy it any other time, the boss(my wee wifie) says so.
I've been trying other malts, except Glennfiddich, which was what I always bought, for months now and have been disappointed, it's a long month if you make the wrong choice.. I've happily made the right choice today.
It's as smooth as the afore mentioned, Glenfiidich, but hotter.

Not a bad Malt for £30

A very sweet but smooth malt with a fiery kick once it leaves the mouth, warm sweet citrusy aftertaste

12th November 2017

Beautiful smooth whiskey

I managed to pick up a bottle from my local Co-op store at a reduced end of line bargain. I’m now gutted as it has now become my favourite whiskey, smooth with a lovely palate. Not being stocked at my local Co-op. I really hope not?

A Fantastic Find

Like Glenfiddich 15 year old, only better, a fantastic nose, sip it and the flavours open up on your tongue with vanila and butterscotch

I bought my first bottle of this edition about 8 weeks ago from our local Co-op, ,I often buy some very good and fairly expensive malt whiskies, up to the value of £60 ,my friends and I enjoy a wee dram at the tenth hole at our local golf club, and we all agree that this is one of the best,6 bottles so far😂😁😂😁😂

17th September 2017

Would like to try a 12 year old at 46 Abby.

Just opened a bottle of this as on offer at £20 in my local costcutter. It is a light speysider by all means, reminds me a little of Speyburn 10 but definitely not so mature.Lots of vanilla and slightly oaky with sharp fruits. At best this must be 8 years old if that.Never the less a nice affordable dram for an introduction to magical speyside malt whisky.

18th August 2017

Great stuff! Give bottle some time.

When I first opened this bottle, I really didn't like it and did not understand why reviews were so positive. Now, a couple weeks later, it has evolved into a very full and rounded, very pleasant dram. At £20, this was a steal. Secret tip: add a drop of Laphroaig 10!

One for the shelf...

Lovely nose. Very smooth and pleasantly sweet.

30th July 2017

Won of the better low to medium priced speeders.

An A rated whisky at a C rated price. An excellent whisky, although it tastes different it is right up there with Glenfiddich 14 & 15 and Glenmorange 10. If you like these whiskies you'll love this one. On the nose, Apple, vanilla, something sweet like toffee and citrus. Tastes similar to the nose but with more sweetness. The finish is an excellent dry medium finish with a lovely warm feeling. Only quibbles, should have an age statement and might not be a favourite of those not to keen on sweeter whiskies

22nd July 2017

Good one. More than expected.

20th July 2017

Sweet impact.

Love a Spey side but this is sweet to the lips and a gentle sip gives vanilla. This is one of the few I would add water to, but only Glenlivit water.

13th July 2017

Distillery Water

Trust me that is the only source of water for the distillery!!!

13th July 2017

The bottle says 2000 feet not 3000 feet for the spring

Good rounded taste with a sweet aftertaste

7th July 2017

Perfect night cap!

A smooth tasting treat! This whisky will transport you back to speyside and particularly Aberlour in flavour.
The nose for me is a spirity flapjack, a palate of spicy apples with a warm long lasting finish.

21st May 2017

Very impressed

Recently I bought a bottle of glenallachie for the first time. Definitely found my new dram.

17th May 2017

How can the spring be at 3,000 ft when the mountain itself is only 2775 ft high? Anyway to suggest that a spring at that height would be the sole or major fresh water source is nonsense. It would barely run outwith mid-winter and I'm sure that SEPA wouldn't grant consent.
