GlenAllachie
12-year-old single malt Scotch whisky from GlenAllachie, originally launched in mid-2018 following Billy Walker taking the reins of the distillery in 2017, and given a shiny redesign in 2024. This is the flagship expression from the Speyside-based distillery and features whisky matured in Pedro Ximénez, oloroso and virgin oak casks, resulting in a huge flavour profile of fruit, oak and vanilla.
Fried banana, almond, cola cubes, freshly cut oak.
Stem ginger and sultana, oily barley and buttery vanilla.
Very slightly chocolatey on the finish.

Excellent quality and superb value.
As is so often the case with whisky from the GlenAllachie stable, this whisky delivers a flavour profile that many would associate with much higher priced expressions. The fruity, oaky palate and the rich sweet finish make this a perfect pair with really good alpine cheese or high quality (at least 85% cocoa solids) dark chocolate. Few distilleries can produce 12 year-old Single Malts of this complexity. It is to Billy Walker’s credit that GlenAllachie can achieve it at such a bargain price.
I recieved some of this whisky as a small 3cl sample and ordered myself a bottle before i had finished.
