Glen Spey
Scotland
Single Malt
A 12 year old from Glen Spey, released as part of Diageo's Flora and Fauna series.
Light, fragrant, Fresh, green, dried grass. Resinous, beeswax, honey sweetness.
Soft, smooth, dried grass, fruity, calvados. Malty and nutty.
Gentle, medium length, oaky warmth, nutty.
The oak and resin come through on palate and finish. A bit too harsh neat for me and I don’t struggle with much neat. It is complex and a little more sweetness (coconut) comes out with water/ice. I probably wouldn’t buy again but I tend to side with more fruity. Definitely warming as bottle says. Personally think you can get some nice singles for less in the high £40s\early £50s range but I’m glad I tried!
Typical of those Speyside distilleries whose production goes primarily into blends- this has subtle fruit and spice notes, with the gentle sweetness traditionally familiar from the heart of Speyside . Recommended to serious enthusiasts
Love it! Great general scotch taste, but on the finish I actually got a strong coffee flavor which I personally really found pleasant. New favorite for sure.
I have not found any flora & fauna I didnt like, this one is no exception, one of the most sweet honey, nutty flavored I have tried. A whisky for desert.
