Glen Scotia 10 Year Old - Campbeltown Malts Festival 2021

Glen Scotia 10yo Bottling Note

For the 2021 Campbeltown Malts Festival, the Glen Scotia Distillery released this marvellous 10 year old single malt! It was distilled using unpeated barley, and initially aged in first-fill bourbon barrels before enjoying a five-month stay in first-fill Bordeaux wine barrels from the Medoc region. Following that, the whisky was married together in refill bourbon barrels, then bottled up at cask strength, resulting in an expression bursting with ripe fruit and jammy berry notes, alongside a subtle whiff of classic Campbeltown salinity.

Tasting Note by The Chaps at Master of Malt

Nose Vanilla pod, spiced berry compote, a a little drizzle of salted caramel, subtle floral wafts developing later on.

Palate Bright orange oil zestiness, paired with chocolatey malt and a splash of strawberry.

Finish Hints of cardamom, cinnamon, toasted oak, and earthy vanilla stick around.

Mixed Berries
I fell in love with Glen Scotia several years back during a work trip to Edinburgh. After reading about this whisky, I was delighted to find this here in the States. And like so many others have noted, this whisky drinks differently. It tastes like a mixed berry compote topped with brown sugar. Very delicious dram. Enjoy!

Great dessert dram
Lovely complex dram, the red fruits really come through on both nose and palate for me. There is no heavy tannin influence on the dram from the red wine but with water you can taste the wine influence. Highly recommend!
