Nose: A deep, sweet opening carries notes of vanilla ice-cream, Butterscotch Angel Delight and dried apricots. A little beeswax and fragrant woodland grass add interesting depth, alongside a prickle of exotic spice and a hint of lemongrass.
Palate: A surprisingly peppery, oaky palate is coated in creamy vanilla and thick honey, with sprinkles of brown sugar. Delicate fruity elements open as the palate progresses with green apple and unripe pears.
Finish: As it softens from the palate, the finish abruptly bursts with tropical fruits coated in ginger-infused simple syrup.
Overall: A beautifully balanced pudding of a dram with characteristic Glen Ord charm and a few welcome surprises.
