The central, and entry level release in the Elgin Classic range from Glen Moray distillery. Very easy to drink, this stuff offers up hints of soft citrus and barley.
Light, fresh. Grist. Nutty, floral. Dried grass. Slightly fruity.
Oak, gentle. Well balanced, walnut, grist. Citrus, lemon sponge.

One of the cheapest bottles of single-malt I've found locally ($24). That said, I find nothing objectionable about it for an entry-level Speyside scotch. Light, fresh, a bit floral on the nose; someone mentioned "bubble-gum" and it does remind me of a freshly-opened pack of Bazooka Joe. Not a lot happening other than a brief, malty sweetness on the arrival, although it's not quite as thin in mouthfeel as some claim. Develops some oakiness and a tiny amount of ethanol mid-palate, then finishes with a slightly dry, lingering bitterness that, to my Islay-schooled tongue, is entirely agreeable. I don't think it could handle water or ice without fading into blandness. I'm going to offer it as a preprandial dram to dinner guests.
If you're looking for a single malt as an everyday treat you really can't go wrong with Glen Moray. Something to have in a tumbler by the fire or on the sofa watching telly. Grand stuff.
I like it. As my sainted father used to say, a good whisky is one that tastes good. I have more than 40 single malts, all of which I love. Each has it's special characteristics and lovely pleasures of taste and scent, spirit and calling. This is not my Islay or Highland, but a fine wee whiskey from Speyside. Don't be fooled by the critics or the price. I take a dram or two daily for my health and pleasure, and for a smooth before dinner or when Laphroaig is not just right it's one I am pleased to have found and enjoy. I encourage all to try it as part of their collection. By this man, it is not Macallan or Balvenie, nor should it be, but I like it. You may as well, Slàinte mhòr!
