Glen Moray Chardonnay Bottling Note

Wine casks are great for imparting a wealth of fruity notes to whisky, and Glen Moray knows this fact particularly well indeed. What we've got here is a single malt from the Glen Moray Distillery which has been given a finishing period in casks that previously held Chardonnay wine. An intriguing choice, making for some excellent Speyside whisky.

Tasting Note by The Chaps at Master of Malt

Nose: Lemon, honey, pineapple, vanilla ice cream, buttered bread.

Palate: More vanilla, now with biscuity notes in support. Still has a lot of fresh fruit vibrancy.

Finish: A soft hint of woody spice.

Glen Moray Chardonnay Cask Finish - Elgin Classic Reviews

Oh, go on then.

I got the vanilla, and would compare it more to a good old fashioned bread and butter pudding (sans creme anglais). As a stand alone it's excellent, both for taste and price. It doesn't have the same range, or depth of flavour as its older vintage, but at 2/3 of the price, it's definitely good enough for what you pay. One of those, you could just have another wee nip to be going on with.
