Glen Grant 2004 (bottled 2015) (Gordon and MacPhail)

One of the many vintages of Glen Grant single malt Scotch whisky bottled by the folks from Gordon & MacPhail, presented with a handsome retro label. This one was distilled in 2004 and left alone until 2015, when it was bottled at 43% ABV.

Tasting Note by The Chaps at Master of Malt

    Nose

Gooseberry, fresh barley and hay, apple crisps.

    Palate

Stroopwafel, gingerbread, chocolate muffins and dried fruit.

    Finish

More ginger, now leaning more on the spicy than sweet side of things.

    Avoid

Sourness , overripe apples, with a heavy chemical spray coating. Finish medium, kind of tannic and cardboard.

    Good Value

This is excellent, has a little more sherry character than the 10yo, and really is a great value dram at the price. I'd have no hesitation recommending this to beginners and seasoned campaigners alike. Always thought the 10yo was an underrated dram, but this is even better.
