Glen Elgin 10 Year Old 2008 - Cask Strength (Mossburn)
A 10 year old single malt from Glen Elgin, independently bottled by Mossburn as part of the Cask Strength range. As you might be able to figure out from that name, this whisky was bottled at cask strength - a generous 59% ABV - after maturing for a decade. You don't see a whole lot of Glen Elgin as a single malt, as it's particularly well-loved by whisky blenders.
Tasting Note by The Chaps at Master of Malt
Nose
Cooked pear, melted butter and a whiff of floral barley.
Palate
Cask spiciness starts to come in to play here, with cinnamon and ginger developing on top of the ripe orchard fruit sweetness.
Finish
Packed with honey and greengage, plus a lasting tickle of black pepper.
