Gelston's 12 Rum Cask Bottling Note

This is a 12 year old Irish single malt whiskey released as part of the Gelston's range, finished in casks that once held tasty rum! We do love the bright fruit and exotic spice notes that rum casks bring to whiskey, so this ought to be a lip-smacking treat.

Tasting Note by The Chaps at Master of Malt

Nose: Creamy caramel and fresh peach, with a hint of cut grass underneath.

Palate: Lemon, more peach (and now apricot, too), stem ginger and pepper.

Finish: Lingering oak heat balanced by a burst of papaya.

Gelston's 12 Year Old Rum Cask Finish Reviews

Not one of my favorites

Not one of my favorites this alas. Its not a bad dram although the rum imo doesnt suit it. Certainly overpriced at full price, although i paid half that. even so its only 3 star alas...

Over priced but jolly nice.

Not normally one for Irish whiskey but their single malt/single grain with a good age statement is a refreshing change. Got this one in the flash sale otherwise I'd say its a tad steep in the price. I must admit its a jolly nice dram. Hints of cereal and straw on the nose, sweet with little orchard fruit. The palate brings hay, cereal, cough candy twists. Coats the mouth nicely. Then comes orange boiled sweets and stem ginger. The finish is tropical from the rum influence and medium to long. Lovely stuff. Would like to try the whole range but am realistically priced out.
