Goldlys Oloroso Finish DR

The Goldlys Distillers Range continues with an Oloroso cask-finished Belgian double still whisky. After being distilled using both column and pot stills, this expression was matured for 12 years and, during that time, it enjoyed a finishing period in a cask which previously held Oloroso Sherry. Excellent as ever from the Belgian distillers, Filliers.

Reviews for Goldlys 12 Year Old Oloroso Cask Finish (cask 2632) - Distillers Range
for the money, not great
Ive been tryi ng to find all the hidden secrets in this, but sadly not really found too many. It is a run of the mill dram at best as a 12 yr old. Not all that much sherry influency, but a reasonable and smooth finish which is its best quality.
too much wood and glue on nose and mouth; also a bit thin in mouth.
its, for the money, not great and i wont be trying anything else from this distillery sadly.

It's a whiskey
Had a chance to try it alongside with Tamdhu 10YO Sherry Cask. Resisted the comparison with dignity. Not so sweet but the sweetness isn't essential in whiskey anyway. Some might find even some seaweed in it. Long finish verifies the age. Decent stuff for saturday night relax.

Wood glue and chips
Very interesting that this is from an Oloroso cask - I don't really get the sweetness at all - it's rounded and delicious, but the Sherry influence is muted. Very nice though.

Wonderful stuff
Didn't know what to expect from a Belgian whisky; turns out 'great things'. One big fan. Right here. In the Philadelphia Cheesesteak t-shirt. Hi.
