Filey Bay IPA Cask Finish Bottling Note

Whiskies finished in beer casks are rather intriguing (and delicious) indeed – and it seems the Spirit of Yorkshire Distillery agrees, seeing as it has released its first batch of Filey Bay single malt finished in IPA casks. Funnily enough, one of the distillery's sister companies is the Wold Top Brewery, and it's that brewery where those IPA casks came from. What luck!

Filey Bay IPA Cask Finish (Batch 1) Reviews

*Interesting, but very nice*

Tasted this at at whisky festival in early September, and it was my first Filey Bay, and I was very impressed. I'm a fan of IPA and I picked the influence out straight away. It's sweet and oily, yet there are nice malty and 'hoppy' flavours there too. A different, but lovely whisky.

Light, sweet and refreshing.

Light and easy to drink.
An interesting bottling. On the nose it is sweet especially ripe raspberries and hints of oak.
The palate is gentle. Again the oakiness comes through but beneath the sweet sugariness.
Not a lingering finish but very pleasant none the less.
If you want something a little different, it’s well worth a try.
