Cask Edit - Elements of Islay
Part of the Elements of Islay series from Speciality Drinks, Cask Edit joins the collection as an ongoing release. Islay blended malt Scotch whisky is matured in a combo of ex-bourbon and ex-sherry casks, imparting enticing layers of fruit and nuts, buttery pastry, and roasted coffee to the softly smoky malt at the core.
Tasting Note by The Chaps at Master of Malt
Nose
Charred oak and candied nuts, with heaps of fresh orchard fruits, are followed by soft praline and creamy vanilla. Delicate peat smoke floats seamlessly throughout.
Palate
Woody caramel opens the way for fresh almond croissants and robust roasted coffee beans. A dusting of pebbly petrichor mingles with earthen vanilla and distant bonfire smoke.
Finish
Things remain fresh and fruity towards the end, with elegant smoke and sweet spice lingering.
