Description

Celebrating 40 years in the whisky industry for Andrew Symington, owner of Edradour and independent bottler Signatory Vintage, this eight-year-old Highland single malt was distilled in 2018 at Edradour No.2, the distillery's second production site. It spent its entire maturation in first-fill Châteauneuf-du-Pape red wine hogsheads, bringing plenty of dark fruit, spice, and vinous richness to Edradour's famously full-bodied spirit. Bottled in 2026 at 57.1% ABV, without chill filtration or added colour, it's one of two special releases marking Symington's four decades in whisky.

Nose

Black cherry compote, ripe plums, and redcurrant jelly, with cocoa powder, sweet malt, and a touch of cinnamon. A little earthy oak and dried herbs develop underneath.

Palate

Rich and weighty, with blackberry jam, stewed damsons, dark chocolate, and spiced fruitcake. Red wine tannins bring structure, balanced by malty sweetness, nutmeg, and a hint of savoury oak.

Finish

Long and warming, with lingering dark berries, cocoa, peppery spice, and a gently drying, wine-soaked oak character.
