Chardonnay-cask-matured whisky may not sound that common, but it's becoming something of a feature for this distillery... This Edradour 13 Year Old 2003 is the latest Highland single malt from to have matured using this method. It was distilled in December 2003 and bottled July 2017 at cask strength and retains its natural colour. 391 bottles were produced of this intriguing effort, which comes with typically charming presentation.
Fresh vanilla breathes through light oak with ease. There's also a slight malty aroma.
The malt develops and becomes nutty, then makes way for orange peel and orchard fruit with a mature tangy sweetness.
Rich and pleasantly buttery, a sweet helping of honey rounds a mellow and easy finish.
Chardon-yay! Apologies - this unique offering is seriously quite delightful.
