    Product details

    Edradour 10 Year Old (43%)

Edradour is one of Scotland's smallest distilleries and at the heart of the range, this 10 year old Eastern Highlander is a rather unique single malt, a decidedly rum-like dram with a thick mouthfeel. The distillery’s methods of production remain virtually unchanged in the last 150 years, and we can see why. If it ain’t broke and all that. This single malt’s decade of ageing was spent in a combination of oloroso sherry and bourbon casks.

Tasting Note by The Chaps at Master of Malt

    Nose

Medium, great complexity. Thoroughly fruity, sherry, sweetness, alluring vanilla.

    Palate

Cloying, seductive murkiness. Rum, barley, toasted almonds.

    Finish

    Spiced fruitcake with crème anglaise.

“Single malt is supposed to stop maturing once uncasked, blended and bottled. I recently poured a dram of Edradour 10 four years after first sampling. Surprised that this time around it retains the attributes of that original dram, but the harsh aspects of the woody finish are gone. Well rounded is the best way to describe it now. Overall I give it an 10 out of 10. Five of maybe 100 scotches that I have tried since 1998 have rated as highly. Secret: uncork once acquired, then re-cork and leave for a couple of years. Then re-open and pour at least 1.5 ounces and add a touch of filtered water. Take outside to “breath” then sip. Hard to describe the velvety taste.”

    Not for me

Has a strong nutmeg taste, I didn't like this scotch, everyone has a unique palate but not for me.

    A nice, individual scotch.

The colour was most encouraging but the taste was not quite as intense.

    Freshly Polished Wood and Nuts

This is a very unique Scotch no doubt. There was an offputting aroma to this Scotch best described in between an indescribable Nut and a the smell of freshly polished wood. It is very different than expected and reminds me of a Darker more stronger flavor of Almonds with a hint of sulpher that best describes the flavor I am capturing. Certainly not a Scotch for everyone but I can see why it is beloved amongst so many who adore such flavors.
