    Eagle Rare 10 Year Old

All the way from the legendary Buffalo Trace Distillery in Frankfort, Kentucky, comes Eagle Rare 10 Year Old. A spectacular Kentucky straight Bourbon whiskey, matured for at least a decade before making its way into its distinctive bottles at 45% ABV. What's so distinctive about the bottles, you ask? Well, we're going to say it's the massive bald eagle, wings outstretched, looking like it's about to snatch up some dinner. Distinctive, yes? The whiskey is also pretty distinctive too, boasting full-bodied notes of cinder toffee, orange peel and buttery corn.

Tasting Note by The Chaps at Master of Malt

    Nose

Toasted oak gives way to flamed orange peel and maple syrup.

    Palate

Honey, buttered bread, oily walnuts and a touch of red fruit.

    Finish

Vanilla, oak spice and a little bit of old leather.

    Delicious

An absolutely remarkable bourbon for the money, an almost insultingly low (but welcome) price point for such a welcoming and sipper friendly whiskey. Heavy vanilla, caramel, honey and oak up front make Eagle a delight to savor as it finishes with a comforting splash of spicy nutmeg and a punch of caramel. There are far worse ways to spend $40.

Keep coming back to this one

I've started trying more bourbons in recent years but keep coming back to this one. Rich with a lot more body than most.

    Go to for a Manhattan

Tried more than few bourbons to build my favourite cocktail, keep coming back to Eagle Rare (although weirdly, not my favourite sipping whiskey). Works well with my new best friend, Peychaud's bitters.

Excellent on second or third tasting with a drop or two of water.

First taste was not so impressed, seemed a bit shallow with not so much flavor to the after taste. I'm half way through the bottle and find each time this drink grows on me. A drop or two of water to a couple of fingers opens up the flavors. Hard to fault at this price point. I'll be buying another bottle or three soon.

    The best for the money

Sip this while watching a prohibition film , something like untouchables and enjoy the perfect balance of everything including price
