Domaine Des Hautes Glaces Obscurus Single Rye
From the brilliant Domaine des Hautes Glaces over in France comes a fab rye whisky! Dubbed Obscurus, the Latin word for 'mysterious', it's distilled from organic rye. It was left in oak barrels for 78 months (also known as six and a half years) until it was bottled at 52.5% ABV, with an outturn of just 666 bottles. Spooky.
Tasting Note by The Chaps at Master of Malt
Nose
New leather and candied nuts, with salted caramel, red grape skin and hints of snuffed match.
Palate
Spicy to the fore, with peppery oak and lots of cinnamon, leading into berry jam and roasted coffee bean.
Finish
Ground almond and anise, with cinnamon French toast and hints of eucalyptus.
